As our new Level Designer (f/m/d) at Ubisoft Düsseldorf, you will be responsible for setting up and maintaining various locations in an open world, using proprietary tools with the goal of creating interesting game-play situations based on the creative vision. Environment and layout aesthetic sensibilities will help a lot in this role.

What you will do: 

  • Document and create levels according to the artistic, creative and design visions. 
  • Present ideas to interdependent teams (conceptualize and communicate engaging gameplay experiences). 
  • Prototype different scenarios and gameplay elements to validate their pertinence and effect.
  • Use integration tools to create explorable and rich gaming spaces.
  • Layout your environment in detail (place activities, non-player characters, encounters, events, and other features that advance the game narratively).
  • Use scripting tools to integrate narrative sequences and quest gameplay.
  • Balance artistic aspects with metrics and technical constraints.
  • Collaborate with level artists and animators to breathe life and beauty into your created space (composition, structure, architecture) and encourage interactions.
  • Cooperate with mission designers to ensure playability and consistency.
  • Develop your design based on comments from play testers and cross-functional team members (iterate, debug and optimize).

Qualifications

What you bring:

  • 2+ years experience in game level design and production or equivalent (experience with action games is a plus).
  • At least one shipped title (AAA games experience is a plus).
  • A strong level, environment or mission design portfolio.
  • A good sense of 3D game space and environmental storytelling.
  • A good understanding of narrative and mission/quest flow.
  • Good knowledge of level design fundamentals as it relates to modern action open-world games.
  • Experience with game engines (e.g. Unreal Engine, Unity, etc.).
  • Experience using visual scripting tools.
  • Good communication and documentation skills.
  • Experience in playing and analyzing open-world action-adventure games.
  • Good critical and analytical skills; understand and adapt to received feedback.

Lead Technical Animator (f/m/d)

JOB DESCRIPTION

As our new Lead Technical Animator (f/m/d) at Ubisoft Düsseldorf, you will lead, motivate and develop your team of Technical Animators and Technical Artists to push the visual and technical quality to the next level. You will be responsible for developing, supporting and documenting our animation systems, rigging, pipelines and techniques used by the Art, Technical Art and Animation teams. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with the Animation Director, Art Director and other leads to ensure high quality in-game animations that are in line with the artistic vision.

What you will do: 

  • Build a strong and versatile team of technical experts as part of a AAA development team
  • Design, implementation and improvement of our animation state machines and runtime solutions
  • Develop, test and maintain complex animation systems in conjunction with animators, gameplay programmers and other team members as required
  • Recognize inefficiencies and pipeline issues and identify solutions
  • Help improving the tools and pipeline that are used for animation, rigging and implementing of animations in collaboration with our internal engine programmers
  • Assist in the design, integration and validation of animation assets
  • Guide/Coordinate Animation teams on demanding tasks

Qualifications

What you bring:

  • 5 years of experience as senior or lead in a similar role during all stages of a video-game production and at least one shipped AAA title
  • Excellent practical understanding of animation logic: node graphs, animation trees and similar engine editors and technologies
  • High level expertise of 3D engines and in game engine implementation of animation features, including ragdoll physics

* Experience with character action focused games is a plus

What you will do:

You will be working with our UI implementation team in laying the foundation and architecture of the user interface for our online systems. Your systems should be cleanly designed, favor simplicity, and be flexible enough to allow for future expansion.

You will be working as a part of our feature teams, specifically focusing on the ingame Shop and other features related to Monetization within Rainbow Six Siege.

  • Collaborate with artists and designers in delivering world-class user interface systems.
  • Mentor, grow and lead the other UI programmers within the Shop team.
  • Work on User Interface features from conception to final implementation.
  • Improve and extend existing game UI and UI framework.
  • Collaborate with architects, technical leads and other teams working on Rainbow Six Siege around the world.

Qualifications

What you bring:

  • Master or Bachelor degree in (Applied) Computer Science or similar qualifications with a strong technical background.
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong C++ skills.
  • Leadership experience as team lead or people manager.

As a Senior 3D Programmer, your mission will be to develop and maintain graphics techniques within the engine to create the best visuals possible.

  • Bring console level graphics quality to new platforms
  • Optimize existing rendering technology

  • Experience as a graphics programmer or similar role in at least one AAA title
  • Knowledge of a broad range of rendering algorithms, special effects and related technology
